Zoom Tutoring Session Rules

For Both Tutors and Tutees

1) Be on time for all of your sessions. If you are running late, please notify your tutor/tutee in advance.

2) Respond promptly to emails. If your tutor/tutee is not responsive for over a week, you may choose to cancel your match with them.

3) Keep your camera on at all times during your sessions. This is necessary both for safety and for the comfort of your tutor/tutee. It's difficult to engage in tutoring when you can't even see the person you are talking to!

4) Notify your tutor/tutee before canceling your tutoring match with them. Please don't ghost the other party!

5) Do not discuss the contents of your session with anyone apart from your tutor/tutee, except in cases where you believe your tutor/tutee may be in danger. For example, if your tutor/tutee mentions that a family member hit them before the tutoring session, please notify Free Peer Tutoring about the incident by emailing us at admin@freepeertutoring.org.

Specifically For Tutors

1) Come prepared to your sessions. Make sure that you have reviewed the material you will be going over, and come with a plan on how to teach it. Prepare all of your necessary materials, such as old test papers, notes, etc.

2) Record your sessions: Please make sure to record your sessions. Submit these after your session through the "Submit Tutoring Session Recordings" page on our site. These are necessary for us to confirm the time you spent tutoring and sign off your Community Service Hours later on.

3) Notify your tutee before you start recording. This is necessary to respect their privacy!

4) Be kind, understanding, and patient.
